A few years ago I came across what has become my favorite bit of preaching that I’ve ever heard. It’s an excerpt from a talk delivered by none other than Dr. Ravi Zacharias. If you’ve ever listened to the man, then you know that he is an incredibly gifted speaker with a knack for thinking about things in ways you probably haven’t yet. Such was the case in this instance as he discussed Lazarus from the Bible.
I’ve come to a pretty interesting realization that life’s fears always disappear once you’ve learned how to find joy and blessing in the midst of what might seem like hell at the moment. When you find yourself there, God starts pouring out grace that causes growth. He delivers mercy that you recognize as divine. I’ve never regretted a struggle because He’s always done something amazing every time. I don’t think folks understand the satisfaction and rush that comes from watching God move in your life. It’s worth anything.
While the enemy does have incredible power on this earth, there’s this truth:
“…because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”
1 John 4:4
How many victories should it take before we realize that there’s nothing left to fear but God? I’m not sure how many it took me, I just know that I’ve seen way more than enough and it’s a good place to be.
Finding myself here makes this word from Dr. Zacharias come to life. I apologize if you find the music corny, but the message is incredible. Lazarus was brought back to life from being stinky dead. I don’t know about you, but so was I. In Jesus name, Amen.
