Rapper Common Talks to Wade-O About How Faith Influences His Music

During a live interview for the Build Series at AOL Studios, rapper/actor and Grammy Award winner Common answered questions regarding his participation in Ava DuVernay’s documentary 13th. CHH’s own DJ Wade-O was also present, taking the opportunity to ask Common how his faith influences his music and social activism. Common stated his faith is “the beginning, middle, and end” of what he does, sustaining him when no one was checking for his music or movies.

There seems to be a greater pull towards faith and spirituality in music as secular artists are becoming more vocal about their world view through the lens of their beliefs. Check out this video to hear Common explain how his faith drives his work ethic and community involvement for those in need of hope in times of injustice.
