Booker T. Washington once said, “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome.”
Obstacles are a part of everyone’s life in one way or another. The question I would like to ask you today is, will you allow the obstacles in your life to propel you or hinder you? I am convinced more and more that the obstacles we face in life are not meant to harm us, but meant to help us and to test us.
Many people are stymied by life’s obstacles. There could be a number of reasons why this occurs. If you speak to an older person they may say the younger generation doesn’t have the tenacity of the older generation and that is why they succumb to life’s obstacles. If you speak with a younger person they may say an older person’s obstacles were different than those faced today. In any case, I believe it is about perspective.
Walt Disney once said, “All the adversity I’ve had in my life—all my troubles and obstacles have strengthened me. You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.”
Disney’s ability to view his obstacles as a point of strength was a key to his great success. We must see life’s obstacles the same way in order to propel into our destiny. Never give up on your dream, no matter what obstacle comes your way.
What challenges are you facing in family, business, and career? I am sure there are a number of reasons that come to mind to stop now and allow the obstacle to win. But there is greatness inside of you and many times it takes pressing through the pain to allow that greatness to come out. You aren’t a quitter! You are great! Great people push through obstacles and win! Go be great, go win! Don’t allow your obstacles to hinder you anymore, allow them to propel you into your destiny!
