How Bobby Hundreds Turned a T-Shirt into a Streetwear Empire

Complex’s YouTube series called Blueprint is one of my favorite shows to watch these days. In a recent episode that I watched, Bobby Hundreds explains how he channeled his love for music and culture into one of the world’s most iconic streetwear brands.

Both of his parents were immigrants from Korea. Both were passionate about the arts and creativity but never thought that a career in the arts could be planned or was even possible. They knew from a very young age that all Bobby cared about was drawing, art, design, clothing and cool culture, but they were always very adamant that there was no future in that and told him to work hard at finding a stable career. After going to law school and graduating and getting an internship with one of the most prominent lawyers around, he realized that he would never be satisfied if he wasn’t doing his passion.

A lesson that stands out to me from the video is this: Honor and respect your parents and those who raise you, but understand that they may lack sufficient vision for your life. Obeying what you were built to do is crucial.
