Even though the base technology has been around for some time, only recently has foldable touchscreen phones been commercially available.
This is the "world's first foldable screen phone" released by Rouyu Technology, which will use the Snapdragon 8150 processor, but its design is very rough, just to seize the "first", this is a futures product. pic.twitter.com/M0v9o2z0Bw

Even Motorola (owned by Lenovo) is rumored to have plans to release a $1,500 folding screen device in their iconic “Razr” form factor.
While some praise the new trend as game-changing, others see it simply as a gimmick with little practical application. Other concerns are the hefty price. Samsung’s device is priced starting at $1,980 and Huawei is asking for $2,600 for their folding device. But this is just the way new innovations make their way into the market. If the trend takes off, do expect to see more variety and application of these types of devices at lower prices in the future.
With recent reports of the smartphone market losing some steam, the introduction of something different may bring some much needed fresh air to an increasingly crowded and somewhat redundant market.
